What is microfilm?

Answer

Microfilm is a way to preserve content, and save space. A photograph is taken of each page of a publication. All the photographs are reduced in size, and transferred to a special film. The final product is a reel that is about 4 inches in diameter.

There are special machines to read the film, and print page copies in the Periodicals area on the second floor. People are there to help, too!
